Here at Brightsea, we believe that the cornerstone to any business’s success is a strong team. Our team is varied, with people coming together from all walks of life to allow us to perform at our best, day in, day out. To celebrate their dedication to our business, our Meet The Team articles allow us the time to get to know them a little better and help our customers know where their printed materials come from.
This month, we speak to Christine Knight to find out about her life inside and outside of Brightsea.
How long have you worked for Brightsea?
I think I’ve been here about ten years now; it’s hard to keep track sometimes! As the saying goes “time flies when you’re having fun!”.
What does your job entail on a daily basis?
So my job title is Print Finisher. This is fairly self-explanatory in that once an item has been printed, it’s my job to ‘finish’ the piece of work. For example, this could mean glueing, folding or packing things into their final design for the customer. Some print companies choose to get machines in for this job, but I think that a human touch is needed to make something special.
What do you like most about your job?
The variety is great; never knowing what I’ll be walking into. I think this is what has kept me sane throughout the years, doing something different and being able to put a human touch on something.
Has your job changed much in the time you have been in the print industry?
My core job role hasn’t changed much, but the business has, which means a greater variety of products being printed. Over the years, we’ve looked to branch out into new areas, including calendars, booklets, folders and all manner of things, this keeps it interesting for us in the finishing department!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love eating out and trying different restaurants. Exeter is great for that as there are so many different places to choose from with cuisines from around the world. I also like watching cricket; thankfully our local and national teams are very talented, which often means there are more cheers than boos. My friends and I also play crib each week, it’s a nice social occasion and is good for the old brain cells!
What’s your favourite smell?
It has to be bacon. Waking up in the morning to that smell, there are few better ways to start the day in my opinion!
What’s your favourite movie?
It’s hard to pick one, but it would definitely be between Avatar and Pretty Woman. Avatar is a great film; it looks so lifelike! But Pretty Woman is a classic and a beautiful storyline.
What’s your favourite song?
Again, it’s hard to pick just one! There are so many great songs out there, new and old. I love listening to Ed Sheeran and Adele though, both very talented singers.
If you could only have one more meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Accompanying my favourite smell, the meal would have to be a fried breakfast. Perhaps not the healthiest, but one of the tastiest. If you have a tomato, that counts as one of your five-a-day, right?
We’re not sure Christine, but we’ll allow it! Now you know that when you order your print with us, Christine will be folding, printing or glueing your products to make them look the best they can.
