Bowmers Café, Bar & Restaurant

In late 2014, Bowmers approached us as a brand new business in Budleigh Salterton. Claire and Jan were opening a new café/restaurant with a vision of offering a high quality dining experience. More than just a café, they would offer a live music venue, a meeting place and exceptional food. At the time, they didn’t have a name and the project was going to be starting from scratch, to brand the whole business.
After some consultation, the name ‘Bowmers’ was decided upon and we set about designing the logo, along with guidelines to create a strong and consistent brand. Incorporating the colours that Bowmers had chosen for their interior design and clean, slick typefaces, we created a strong, stand out brand that encapsulated everything Bowmers wanted to offer. The logo and branding guidelines were then used to develop printed stationery including letterheads, business cards, loyalty cards and vouchers. We also designed, printed and helped with the installation of the signage, ready for the grand opening.

Our involvement didn’t stop there. Bowmers was an instant success but, in this digital age, no business can be without an online presence. Our creative department are proud to offer website design as one of their many skills. Bowmers were quick to take us up on this, with a website designed to work on desktop and mobile devices that would fit in with their brand guidelines. They wanted it to be easy to use, allowing their customers to check the latest opening times, see sample menus, sign up to a mailing list that would give regular updates and get in contact. We are not only working with Bowmers on their website, but have also developed their newsletter template which we will be creating and sending out to customers on their behalf.

As part of the website, Bowmers wanted to incorporate photos of the restaurant and their food. However, as a relatively new business, they didn’t have any existing images. Brightsea work with many businesses who require photography and we are able to suggest different photographers to suit your location and the type of images required. For Bowmers, we suggested Matt Austin, who not only works with some of our other clients but has even been down to Brightsea to photograph some of our work. Bowmers were very pleased with the service they received and the images they received were beautiful.

As with any business, Bowmers continues to develop and grow. More recently we have been working with them on a new seasonal campaign. We are creating seasonal illustrations which are being printed as large posters, used for advertising campaigns and incorporated into both the website and the menus.
Jan and Claire came to us having had some teething issues with their menus, which they print themselves. They were struggling with paper menus becoming damaged easily and only being suitable for single use. We worked with them to come up with a solution, which was to source menu covers into which they would insert the menus. Bowmers were keen to ensure these would still be slick and stylish, to fit in with their brand, but would stand the test of time in a busy restaurant. The metal and wood foil embossed menu covers we worked with them to create are perfect for the job.

We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Bowmers and continuing to work with them to help them realise their visions.
