Brightsea Press, has for many years been in the forefront of continual environmental awareness, recently achieved FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification, which underpins their complete commitment to environmental improvement. The chain of custody certification proves FSC paper used by Brightsea Press is globally certified, originating from well managed forests, and verifies that the raw material used is not mixed with raw material from uncertified forests at any point in the supply chain. FSC is one of the most globally recognized environmental trademarks. It was founded in response to an increasing concern about deforestation, and the need for trustworthy labelling of wood. It has the support of many of the largest environmental organisations such as the WWF, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace and it can now be found extensively on products sold in many retail giants such as Tesco, B&Q and Sainsburys. All of Brightsea customers can benefit from placing the FSC and PEFC logo onto their printed items if they use certified stocks, proving beyond doubt chain of custody from the forest to the consumer, this gives their customers confidence in the paper they are using, reassurance that the chain of custody is guaranteed and the peace of mind to know that they are using a printer who cares about the environment. Brightsea has made a significant investment in gaining certification. “We feel passionately that as a printer, we need to be continually improving our environmental impact and looking at better ways of working for the future and therefore we see FSC and PEFC as a vital part of achieving this goal”, says Steve Baker, Sales Director of Brightsea Press. “We have always had exemplary business practices, and this achievement now demonstrates, in a globally recognised way, our environmentally conscious purchasing policies.” Brightsea Press has also made a considerable investment in replacing its colour digital press with an M700 Nexpress, which will print all kinds of FSC and PEFC papers from uncoated, through to silk and gloss.
